1. USADWEB Unveils Brand New Web Design

USADWEB is very excited to announce the launch of our newly designed website! Our site, www.USADWEB.com, is updated with several new features to provide you with the cutting-edge information you need for your labor certification cases.

The site features a new section called Articles of Interest, a selection of articles from our NewsBlasts that address relevant advertising issues and provide timely advice on placing ads. We also offer an expanded Services section, with a detailed list of the services we currently provide, including the new options for E-Verify and Prevailing Wage Determinations.

Interested in catching up on past NewsBlasts? Check out the redesigned USADNEWS archives where the links to each issue list the articles that are covered, making it easy to select the issue you want to read.

As always, our clients' Testimonials and our Contact and Payment information are easy to find. We've also added an Order Ads section, with a direct link to request our current Advertising Order Form and information about the order process.

USADWEB is proud to bring you these updates in our continued effort to offer you the exemplary service you expect.

2. Economy Impacts Your Recruitment

Due to the level of uncertainty facing the global economy, as well has high unemployment rates, USADWEB has seen advertising media alter their practice of posting jobs. Publications are trying harder than ever to make advertisements more appealing and cost effective. Newspapers are also attempting to sell media packages that can reach wider audiences.

On occasion, we find that the chosen media will embellish an ad with additional graphics to make it more appealing and noticeable to job seekers. Whenever possible, USADWEB takes the necessary steps to ensure that your ad is simple and direct, while at the same time conforming to the Department of Labor (DOL) guidelines.

Oftentimes, when a shortened ad text does not specify the degree or experience requirements, a newspaper may attempt to "fill in the gap" by using their best-guess to publish facts about the ad on their job search website. Many newspapers have direct electronic feeds to their job search websites that require them to select the job requirement parameters. If you do not include this information in your ad text, please be sure to include it elsewhere on the form, such as in the more detailed SWA section, so that we can accurately correct these issues when they arise. If we do not know the requirements, we often ask the newspaper to list them as "Unspecified."

As we collect your printouts of online ads, we check the information to be sure that it conforms to your request. The process of correcting these online ads can sometimes take up to several business days. However, please feel assured that we will send you corrected proofs, and that we will attempt to extend the posting dates as necessary to meet your requirements.

3. State Workforce Agencies’ (SWAs) New Strict Guidelines

For all states, job orders may not require applicants to pay a fee or make any monetary investment, nor may they contain discriminatory, obscene, defamatory, or abusive information.

Certain State Workforce Agencies (SWAs) have particular posting requirements for job orders.

Illinois

  • Requires the job order to specify that it is for Alien Labor Certification. Failure to indicate this can result in the job order being closed prior to the 30th day of posting.
  • Does not permit any employer contact information to appear in the job description. This is because they want applicants to be registered through their system in order to view information about how to apply.
  • Requires applicants to be matched through their SkillsMatch system, which is why we must select the minimum skills required in order to submit an IL job order.

Indiana

  • Requires that the employer register directly with the SWA and pay an annual $50 registration fee.

Florida

  • Requires the job order to specify that it is for Alien Labor Certification. Failure to indicate this can result in the job order being closed prior to the 30th day of posting.

Pennsylvania

  • Does not permit any employer contact information to appear in the job description. This is because they want applicants to be registered through their system in order to view information about how to apply.

To expedite your job orders, please be sure to fill out the SWA Order Form as completely as possible. Your ad representative can answer any additional questions you might have about posting requirements for specific states.
